Crane Operator Job

The Crane Operator job at Easter Basin Harbor in San Fierro involves using cranes to load and unload containers. The role requires precision and control to move goods using an electromagnet, and you will be assigned different types of missions. There are two cranes available, each offering different tasks for loading and unloading containers.

How to Get the Job


  • Location: Easter Basin Harbor, San Fierro.
  • How to Start: Go to Easter Basin Harbor and enter the job marker to take the Crane Operator job.


Crane Selection


There are two cranes available for the job:

  • Crane 1: Located in the Southwest.
  • Crane 2: Located at the Northeast next to an anchored ship.


Crane 1 Operations


  • 1A. Crane 1 - Load Mission:
    • Lift containers from the warehouse and load them onto the Big Ship (Freighter).
    • There are 5 zones to work with. You will earn payment for each successfully loaded container.
  • 1B. Crane 1 - Unload Mission:
    • Move containers from the Big Ship to designated boxes on the ground.
    • There are three color-coded boxes (Red, Yellow, Blue) identified by a truck blip on the radar/map.

Crane 2 Operations


  • 2A. Crane 2 - Load Mission:
    • Wait until the Cargo Ship is docked in the basin.
    • Perform a similar loading task as Crane 1, but now with 7 zones to work with.
  • 2B. Crane 2 - Unload Mission:
    • After the Cargo Ship is docked, perform an unloading mission similar to Crane 1's unload mission.


Crane Operating Instructions



Upon entering the crane, you will see a control panel that provides operating instructions.

  • Important Commands:
    • /magnet: Use this command if the container remains attached to the magnet after successful loading.
    • /prefercrane <1 or 2>: Select which crane you wish to use (locked at L2+).
    • Ground Detection: Monitor whether the attached container has touched the ground or not via the ground detection indicator on your screen.

The Crane Operator job has 10 levels based on your progress in completing loading and unloading missions. The rank system is based on the number of missions you complete and your experience in handling containers.

  • A: Yes, there are several commands available:
    • /crane or "enter_exit": Use this command/key to enter/exit the crane.
    • /camcr <0-5> or "v": Use this command/key to switch camera modes (helps a lot).
    • /magnet: Use this command to release containers that remain attached to the magnet after loading.
    • /cranesoud: Use this command to toggle crane sounds on/off.
    • /craneset: Use this command to change crane default key binds.


Crane Operator Tips


  • Use the /prefercrane command to select your crane preference at L2+ rank.
  • Be mindful of the magnet load detector on your screen, which shows whether a container is valid for delivery.
  • Regularly monitor ground detection to ensure the container is properly lifted and placed.
