Paper Boy is a civilian delivery job where you ride a bicycle and deliver newspapers to houses in Los Santos and San Fierro.

How to start

To start the Paper Boy job:

Use /gps to mark Paper Boy (LS) in Commerce or Paper Boy (SF) in Palisades.
Take the job.
Get on a bicycle.
Follow the timed route.
Ride close to the marked house icon.
Press LMB while close enough to an assigned house marker to throw a paper.

Delivery payments

Per-paper pay is 630 x rank multiplier, with another 20% for VIP. The multiplier starts at 1.0 and rises 0.1 per level to 2.0 at L10.

A bundle contains 8 papers at L0 plus 1 per level, up to 18 at L10. Completing it pays (1,750 + 270 x papers) x rank multiplier, plus 20% with VIP, and immediately starts another route. Completion speed does not change this bonus. Examples are $3,910 at L0, $7,890 at L5, and $13,220 at L10 before VIP, or $4,692, $9,468, and $15,864 with VIP.

Rapid Transport restriction

Using Rapid Transport ends the active paper route.

Current route controls and HUD

Use the green vehicle marker to select a BMX. BMX can be recovered without VIP. Assigned houses show round orange NEWS icons and distance labels, with a blue arrow at the target door. The throw action becomes available only when close enough to an assigned house marker; a paper cannot be thrown from far away.

The HUD shows level, progress, deliveries, Top value when present, money, papers remaining, and the route timer. Entering a non-bicycle vehicle ends the route. A broken bicycle cannot start a route. Equipping a jetpack removes the jetpack but does not cancel the route. An L0 eight-paper route gives about 4 minutes; this is not a timer for every level. Press N at the yellow job marker to return to the Employment Office.

The job shows these messages. The numbers are examples from L0 with VIP.

A route starts with Paper route started. Deliver 8 papers before the timer runs out.
Near an assigned house, a yellow hint says Press 'mouse1' to throw a paper.
The last paper of a route shows Paper delivered. You earned $756. and Route complete. Bundle bonus: $4,692., then at once the start message of the next route.
When you become the day's leader, the game shows You are now today's top for Top Paper Boy! and the panel adds a Top: line with your name and count.
The Progress, Deliveries and money lines of the panel update a few seconds after a payment.

Throwing newspapers

Use MOUSE1 while on your bicycle and near the assigned house. Newspapers can be thrown only in the main dimension.
