Press `M` to change payment type for Leviathan or Cargobob. With VIP, an Andromada resource payment applies one `1.2` step and divides by the resource's F7 average price, rounded down. How the job works
Pilot is a Civilian job based around air transport, delivery, and support missions.
You take the job at an airport in Los Santos or San Fierro, enter an aircraft, and start the matching Pilot mission.
Pilot pay depends on flight distance.
Proper runway takeoffs and landings also give a bonus.
How to start
To become a Pilot:
- Use /gps or F3 to find the Pilot job.
- Take the job at the airport in LS or SF.
- Enter a plane or helicopter to start the matching Pilot mission.
How it works
Pilot missions depend on the aircraft you enter.
After a passenger mission starts, go to the boarding terminal marked on your map. After a cargo mission starts, go to the loading bay, marked with a red target blip.
After one delivery ends, you can start another mission and follow the new marker.
The same destination should not be given twice in a row.
Airport passenger routes use Los Santos, San Fierro, Verdant Meadows, City Island, San Quentin, Bayview International, Springfield, Rockport International, Palmont City, and Carcer City. Andromada cargo routes use the same airports except Springfield and Verdant Meadows, which have no cargo markers.
Aircraft and Roles
Different aircraft have different Pilot missions.
Passenger aircraft
These aircraft carry passengers between airports:
- Dodo
- Beagle
These aircraft carry larger passenger loads, including international flights:
- Shamal
- AT-400
On these aircraft, press Space to let players board:
- Shamal
- Andromada
Resource and cargo aircraft
These aircraft handle cargo or resource work:
- Andromada carries resource crates. Press
Mto select the payment before taking cargo; payment cannot change until that cargo is delivered. - Cargobob transports vehicles and can be paid in cash or resources
- Leviathan moves cargo containers with Space and can be paid in cash or resources
Special mission aircraft
These aircraft have special roles:
- Nevada runs supply deliveries from Verdant Meadows
- Cropduster clears infested areas
- Stuntplane performs airshows
- Maverick carries rich passengers
- Transport Maverick carries rich passengers
- Raindance helps firefighters by filling and dropping water with Space
The Maverick mission first sends you to a helipad. A red target blip marks the helipad at Los Santos or San Fierro Airport.
Mission capacity and controls
Each aircraft has one capacity number, not one per Pilot level.
| Aircraft | Capacity |
|---|---|
| Dodo | 4 |
| Beagle | 15 |
| Shamal | 35 passengers |
| AT-400 | 125 |
| Andromada | 150 crates |
| Nevada | 50 packages |
| Cropduster | 1,500L gas |
| Maverick / Transport Maverick | 4 |
| Cargobob / Leviathan | 1 |
| Raindance | 50 |
Nevada drops use a green destination ring and release parachuted packages. Each drop removes 5 packages, pays that leg, and assigns the next destination. Cropduster pest areas and Stuntplane airshows appear as green radar rectangles with a red target in the center.
Nevada destinations include Come-A-Lot, Yellow Bell Golf Course, North Rock, Restricted Area, Back o Beyond, San Fierro, Red County, Flint County, Western Airport on City Island, and Blueberry Acres. The game names each drop with two area names; this list is not exhaustive.
Stuntplane objectives can include barrel rolls, loop-de-loops, upside-down flight, low flight 20m above ground, staying below 150 MASL, and enabling the red smoke trail. Follow the actual objective list for your airshow.
For Leviathan cargo, align with a long side of the container for bonus payment and position the magnet near its center at the green marker. Press Space to attach when prompted.
During a Cargobob mission, a large yellow Later that day... text shows for about 6 seconds. The game then says Deliver the vehicle to the destination marked on your map.
Commands and Controls
Useful Pilot commands and controls include:
- /assist
- /drop
- /r <message>
- C
- /cruise
- Space
- M
What they do
- /r lets you talk on the pilot radio
- /assist helps keep the aircraft steady when your speed is above 230
- C or /cruise enables cruise control
- /drop lowers glued players slowly down to the ground from a helicopter
- Space is used for boarding on Shamal and Andromada
- Space is also used by Leviathan for cargo container work
Mselects Andromada payment before taking cargo, not during the active delivery
Request takeoff and landing clearance with Z when ATC Radio asks. Skipping either request fails the mission and not listening to ATC costs a $10,000 fine. If another pilot is taking off, wait a few seconds and request again. After landing clearance, taxi to the assigned passenger terminal or cargo unloading area.
Taking off without ATC permission ends the Pilot job. The game says The job has ended because you took off without ATC permission.
Payment
Pilot pay depends on flight distance.
Proper runway takeoffs and landings also give a bonus.
Leviathan and Cargobob can be paid in:
- Cash
- Resources
Press M to change payment type for Leviathan or Cargobob. With VIP, an Andromada resource payment applies one 1.2 step and divides by the resource's F7 average price, rounded down. Cash applies a second 1.2 step, making the cash payment about 20% more valuable under the same conditions.
With VIP, the payment message is lower than what you are paid. It shows the amount without the VIP part, while your earn-limit counter rises by the amount with VIP. For example, the message says $10,100 and the counter rises by $12,120.
During an hourly Double Earnings hour, VIP cash flights use 2.0 then 2.4 instead of the two normal 1.2 steps, paying about 3.33 times normal VIP cash. For example, with VIP an L3 Shamal flight from Los Santos to Palmont City with no runway bonus pays $15,138 in a normal hour and $50,460 in a Double Earnings hour.
Skin
Pilot uses these skin IDs:
- 61
- 1033
Pay facts
Airport passenger and cargo Pilot pay uses hidden 2D distance between airport center coordinates, not the visible marker distance. Start with rank unit pay x hidden airport distance x aircraft multiplier, apply each earned 1.1 runway bonus, then apply the VIP steps below. Without VIP, floor the value once; there is no extra mission bonus.
| Factor | Current fact |
|---|---|
| Pilot rank | Pilot rank affects pay directly |
| Plane type | Plane type affects pay |
| Takeoff bonus | 10%
|
| Landing bonus | 10%
|
| Takeoff plus landing | 1.1 * 1.1 = 1.21x
|
| VIP cash | Multiply by 1.2 and floor, then multiply by 1.2 and floor again: about 44% more cash
|
Each airport pair has a fixed pay distance, the same in either direction. The shortest is Verdant Meadows to Rockport International (1,945m) and the longest is San Quentin to Bayview International (11,379m). Los Santos to San Fierro is 3,872m, Los Santos to Carcer City is 6,486m, and Los Santos to Palmont City is 8,761m. The average of all 45 routes is about 6,200m. These are flat airport distances, not the distance flown.
An L9 Shamal flight between Bayview International and Springfield with no runway bonus pays $19,075 without VIP and $27,468 with VIP. An L6 Shamal flight from Los Santos to Carcer City with both runway bonuses pays $12,949 without VIP and $18,645 with VIP.
Plane pay multipliers
| Aircraft | Multiplier |
|---|---|
| Shamal | 0.75
|
| Andromada | 0.8
|
| AT-400, Beagle, Dodo, Nevada, Transport Maverick, or default airport aircraft | 1.0
|
| Cropduster | 1.5
|
| Stuntplane | 1.75
|
| Maverick, Cargobob, Leviathan, or Raindance | 3.0
|
Nevada supply drop pay rises with the drop distance and your rank unit pay. VIP raises it. A load can have a 10% bonus, which is the same for each drop of that load. With VIP, Cropduster pay is multiplied by 1.2 and floored, then by 1.2 and floored again, on its 1.5 aircraft multiplier.

- After one mission ends, you can start another one right away.
Related commands
| Command | Use |
|---|---|
/drop <partial name> or /drop
|
Pilots of certain helicopters can use a partial name to drop one player, or omit the name to drop everyone, so occupants slide down ropes. |
Rapid Transport restriction
No Pilot mission can start for 2 minutes after Rapid Transport. The game shows You have used a rapid transport marker in the last 2 minutes, you cannot start the job.
Current aircraft workflow
Enter a supported plane or helicopter to start its matching Pilot work. The HUD shows Pilot level and progress, Distance, ETA, Miles Flown, Top player, task progress, and earnings against the earn limit. Press N to show or hide extra aircraft data: Engine power, Heading, and Smoke trail status. Mission fields separately show load, capacity, and payment choice when supported.
Shamal carries passengers, Andromada carries cargo, Nevada performs supply package work, and Cropduster performs pest control. Payment type cannot be changed during an active delivery. Completed assignments add their route miles to Progress and Miles Flown. An airport flight adds floor(flat airport-to-airport distance / 500) miles.
Leaving the aircraft starts a 60 second return timer. Hiding the aircraft ends the job immediately and destroys the supplied job vehicle. The same destination is not assigned twice in a row.
Passenger and restart notes
- Nevada can carry passengers like Shamal.
- After using suicide while working as a Pilot, wait
3minutes before continuing the job. This wait does not apply when you die inside an event. - After any death, a new Pilot mission also cannot start for
2minutes. Dying during a mission ends it. - A badly damaged aircraft cannot start a mission; repair it when
Your aircraft is too badly damaged to fly, please repair it!appears.
Aircraft and Andromada payment
You do not need to own a plane. Use a supplied aircraft at the yellow airport plane markers.
Before taking Andromada cargo, press M to choose Cash, Engine Parts, Iron, Explosives, Chemicals, Electronics, Oil, Gold, or Nitrous. Deliver the current cargo before changing that choice.
Spraying and cargo payment controls
The Cropduster pest control mission sends you to the nearest airport to load gas. Request takeoff clearance with Z, fly to the named infestation area, and press 2 to spray while flying at full speed. The HUD shows remaining gas and Area coverage. Unused gas remains loaded when the next infestation is assigned.
Use M after delivering the Andromada cargo and before loading the next cargo to change payment type. Available resource rewards are Engine Parts, Iron, Explosives, Chemicals, Electronics, Oil, Gold, and Nitrous; cash is also available. During an active delivery, the game blocks the change with You cannot change payment type until you deliver the cargo!
Altitude and runway indicators
/assist is altitude hold and helps keep the aircraft steady above speed 230. The HUD shows Use '/assist' for altitude hold and Press 'N' to show aircraft data.
A proper landing on any runway can earn the landing bonus, not only the destination runway. At about 230 KPH or faster, OVERSPEED: Aircraft speed too high! may appear with ATC WARNING!. This warning does not affect the aircraft, pay, or landing request.
