It uses:

  • /wepsounds

You can also control the general weapon sound setting in:

  • /settings

Custom sound files

Custom weapon sound files must:

  • end in .wav
  • or end in .mp3

They must be placed in this folder:

  • mods > deathmatch > resources > CITsounds > sounds

inside your MTA install folder.

How to change weapon sounds notes

To change your weapon sounds:

  • open /wepsounds
  • select the weapon from the list on the left
  • select the sound from the list on the right
  • press Apply

Command Use
/wepsounds Selects custom weapon sounds.

Select individual weapon sounds

Open /mods and select Weapon Sounds:

  • The weapon list holds these 13 weapons: Colt 45, Deagle, Shotgun, Sawed-off, Combat Shotgun, Uzi, MP5, AK-47, M4, Tec-9, Rifle, Sniper, and Minigun.
  • Select the weapon in the left hand list, select a sound from Presets, and press Apply.
  • Use Search to find a preset. My weapon sounds shows the current sound selection for each weapon.
  • The tab also provides Volume, Test, and Reset all preferences controls.

Open /settings and go to Audio > SOUND PERFORMANCE, then select a preset in Custom Weapon Sounds. It is a preset list, not a switch labelled On or Off. The default is GTA SA FPS Fixed. For individual weapon sounds, use /mods > Weapon Sounds; those selections override the general preset.

The individual sound you select in /mods > Weapon Sounds overrides the Custom Weapon Sounds setting in /settings.

Apply a custom sound file
