Mechanic
Mechanic is a civilian service job where you repair, paint, and scrap vehicles for money or resources.
Overview
Mechanic is a service job on the Civilian side.
As a Mechanic, you help players by repairing and painting vehicles.
You can also do the scrapper mission, which can pay in Iron or Engine Parts.
Locations
Mechanic can be found near:
- Pay and Spray in North East LS
- Pay and Spray in North Central LV
- Pay and Spray in East SF
- Commercial Facilities on City Island SF
How It Works
Mechanic has 3 main parts:
- Repairing vehicles
- Painting vehicles
- Scrapper mission
Repairing Vehicles
To repair a vehicle:
- Stand next to the vehicle.
- Press X.
- Click the vehicle.
- Select Repair Vehicle.
The vehicle owner then accepts or declines the service.
Painting Vehicles
To paint a vehicle:
- Buy or craft a spray can.
- Aim at the vehicle.
- Hold Right Mouse Button to spray.
Painting someone else's vehicle pays:
- $1,500
Painting your own vehicle is:
- Free
Scrapper Mission
Mechanics can also do the scrapper mission.
The scrapper mission can pay in:
- Iron
- Engine Parts
You can toggle the scrapper mission pay between Iron and Engine Parts.
Rewards
Mechanics get paid by:
- Repairing vehicles
- Painting vehicles
- Doing the scrapper mission

Progression
Mechanic progression is based on total money earned as a Mechanic.
Levels are:
- L0 Engine Enthusiast, $0 earned
- L1 True Petrolhead, $25,000 earned
- L2 Hobby Mechanic, $60,000 earned
- L3 Apprentice Technician, $150,000 earned
- L4 Novice Mechanic, $350,000 earned
- L5 Advanced Mechanic, $800,000 earned
- L6 Experienced Mechanic, $1,400,000 earned
- L7 Motorsport Technician, $2,150,000 earned
- L8 Military Technician, $2,900,000 earned
- L9 Expert Mechanic, $3,750,000 earned
- L10 Xzibit, $5,000,000 earned
At Level 10, you unlock:
- /go mechanic
Important Notes
- Mechanic is a Civilian service job.
- It is based around repairing, painting, and scrapping vehicles.
- Repairing a vehicle needs X and a click on the vehicle.
- Vehicle repairs must be accepted by the owner.
- Painting needs a spray can.
- Painting another player's vehicle pays $1,500.
- Painting your own vehicle is free.
- The scrapper mission can pay in Iron or Engine Parts.
- Mechanic progression is based on total money earned in the job.
- At Level 10, you unlock /go mechanic.
