Bus Driver
Bus Driver is a civilian transport job where you run passenger routes. There are routes in Los Santos, San Fierro and City Island, routes from Los Santos to Red County and Flint County, and routes from San Fierro to Bone County. There is also a Dangerous route through Las Venturas and a Desert route.

How the job works
Bus Driver is a route based Civilian job.
You drive a bus route, stop at marked bus stops, load or unload passengers, and get paid as you progress through the route.
Pay scales with route length, stop count, your level, and VIP hours.
How to start
To become a Bus Driver:
- Go to Juniper Hill in San Fierro or El Corona in Los Santos. Use

How it works
The closest available route is shown first.
To work the job:

- Follow the route checkpoints.
- Drive to each marked stop in order.
- At red stops, open the doors with N.
- Let passengers load or unload.
- Press N again to close the doors and continue.
The first stop only starts the route, so it does not count toward pay or progress.
You are paid after every 5th stop. The finishing-route payment covers payable stops left since the last bundle, not the drive back from the last stop to the first.
At the start the game names the first stop of the route, for example Make your way to the first bus stop in Playa del Seville which is East Beach. The payout after every fifth stop says You have been paid $6846 for successfully handling passengers!. The payout at the end says You have received $1562 for successfully finishing route!. The places and amounts are examples.
The Articulated Coach opens and closes automatically after the first stop. It pays the same as a Coach or Bus, with no vehicle bonus.

- Press N to open the bus or coach doors
- Press N again to close them
The door key can be changed when you first select a route.

One of the best paying routes is:
- State Route 32, Unity Station Terminal 6 to Angel Pine to Avispa Country Club
This route has:
- 25 stops
- 13.7 km selector distance, not road length or exact paid distance. The straight lines between its stops add up to 14,831 m.
- About
$155,978per route at Level10with VIP, projected from a tested Level1run without VIP; actual payouts depend on the distance between payable stops.
State Route 31 pays $152,873 for a full run at Level 10 with VIP, in five payout lines of about $31,185, $32,611, $31,512, $32,679 and $24,888. One run after another takes about 12 to 17 minutes.
Pay facts
| Route type | Pay rule |
|---|---|
| City | Payable stop value uses basePayment + internalDistanceBetweenStops
|
| State | Payable stop value uses basePayment * 2 + internalDistanceBetweenStops
|
| Specialty | Payable stop value uses basePayment * 2.7 + internalDistanceBetweenStops
|
| Dangerous | Payable stop value uses basePayment * 2.4 + internalDistanceBetweenStops
|
| VIP | VIP pays floor(normal payout line x 1.2) on each line, not once on the full route total
|
The first stop starts the route and pays $0. The route selector distance is useful for choosing a route, but it is not the exact paid distance. The distance part of the pay matches the straight line from one stop to the next, height included.

Rapid Transport restriction
Using Rapid Transport cancels an active bus route. Dying also cancels any active route. You can leave the bus for up to 1 minute before cancellation.
Current route operation
The Bus Driver selector supports search, random assignment, route details, Assign route, and Begin closest route to you. A selected route shows four detail lines: Route type:, Destinations:, Total bus stops and Driving distance:. Route types are City, State, Specialty, and Dangerous. Specialty routes are State Route 51, 52, and 53; State Route 61 is Dangerous. The Specialty timers are 15, 20, and 10 minutes respectively.
In the selector, the text of State Route 53 warns you to drive patiently... as one wrong move and it's over. The text of State Route 61 says Drive carefully, this route is going through Las Venturas! If you die, you are dead.
The standard Coach has 80 seats. The HUD shows level, progress, route earnings, next stop, route name, completed and total stops, passengers, seats left, and boarding or leaving passengers. Press N at a red stop to operate normal bus doors. The Articulated Coach handles its doors automatically after the first stop.
The first stop starts the route and pays $0. Later stops build pending pay, and leaving the bus after payable stops still pays that backed amount. Stop pay uses the internal distance between stops, not the selector distance. Picked up players provide extra cash. After the final stop, use /routes or continue roaming.
State Route 32 is a State route from Unity Station Terminal 6 through Angel Pine to Avispa Country Club. It has 25 stops over a displayed 13.7 km.
