    How to use it

    On your own MTA server

    1. Press MTA resource (.zip). Tick the sniper scope too if you made one.
    2. Put the folder custom_crosshair from the ZIP into server/mods/deathmatch/resources/.
    3. Type refresh and then start custom_crosshair in the server console. Everyone on the server sees the new crosshair.

The resource swaps the game's crosshair picture with a shader, the same way we tested it. Players cannot add it to a server they do not run.

In GTA San Andreas (single player)

    1. Press Quarter PNG for the game.
    2. Make a copy of models/hud.txd in your GTA folder first.
    3. Open hud.txd in a TXD editor and replace the texture siteM16 with the PNG. For the scope, the texture is SNIPERcrosshair in sniper.txd inside models/gta3.img.

    Why a quarter?

GTA San Andreas draws its crosshair from one quarter picture: the top-left part, with the centre in its bottom-right corner. It mirrors that quarter to the other three corners. So a design that is not the same on all four sides comes out different in game. The Full PNG is the whole design, for scripts that draw it with dxDrawImage. The aimed shot lands 53% across and 40% down the screen for guns, and in the middle for the sniper.

    Crosshairs on CIT

    • Type /crosshairs, open /mods and pick Crosshairs, or open the Crosshairs app on CITPhone.
    • The panel has Weapon Crosshairs and Sniper Crosshairs tabs. Pick a weapon, then click a crosshair. With no weapon picked, the crosshair goes on every weapon.
    • In /settings > Interface > CROSSHAIR SETTINGS, Set custom weapon crosshair has 39 choices: Off, Player custom, Dynamic (the default, it changes with your gun) and crosshairs 1 to 36. Set custom sniper crosshair has 26 options or Off.
    • CIT picks the crosshairs; you cannot load your own PNG there. Use this maker for your own server, for single player or for scripts.

    GTA SA weapon icons

The HUD icon of every weapon, from the game's own files: 64 x 64 PNG with a see-through background. The name under each is the texture name in the game.

IDs 19, 20 and 21 have no icon in the game. On CIT, 17 weapons use CIT's own models with their own HD icons, so CIT's HUD shows those instead.

    Where this comes from

    • Tested in MTA:SA on 14 October 2026 on a private test server: a test picture put on siteM16, SNIPERcrosshair and siterocket with engineApplyShaderToWorldTexture came out mirrored four times, and the aimed shot (getPedTargetEnd) lands at the measured spot. The gun sizes were measured from the same test picture with each gun, standing still, with a new player's weapon skill.
    • Texture names and icons: GTA San Andreas models/hud.txd and the weapon textures in models/gta3.img. Weapon names: MTA:SA.
    • The game pictures behind the preview are real MTA:SA screenshots taken on the test server, with the crosshair turned off. In the picture with a person, the person stands where the aimed shot lands; the green arrow over him is the game's own target marker.
    • CIT: the CIT knowledge base, checked 14 October 2026.
