Main Chat

Main Chat is the public English chat channel in CIT. It is used for general public communication with players in the main shared chat area for your region.

Overview

`Main Chat` is the standard public chat used for normal server-wide communication in the supported main-chat region.

To talk in `Main Chat`, use:

/main [message]

`Main Chat` is:

  • public
  • English only
  • divided by region

How to use Main Chat

To send a message in `Main Chat`:

  • press T
  • type /main [message]
  • send the message

Example format:

  • /main hello

Main Chat regions

`Main Chat` is split into these region groups:

  • `LS`
  • `SF`
  • `OS`
  • `BC`
  • `LV`

`LS`, `SF`, `OS`, and `BC` share the same `Main Chat`.

`LV` has its own separate `Main Chat`.

Language rule

`Main Chat` is:

  • English only

If you want to talk in another language:

  • use `Country Chat`

Posting non-English messages in `Main Chat` is punishable.

A listed mute reason includes:

  • posting at least 2 non-English messages in main or team chat

Main Chat rules

The listed main chat rules are:

  • no spam
  • no server advertising
  • no racism or hate speech
  • no insulting players or their families
  • no religious or political arguing
  • no caps flooding
  • English only in main chat

Examples of punishable misuse

The listed punishable misuse in or related to `Main Chat` includes:

  • posting non-English messages
  • repeating words, dots, emojis, or random letters
  • flooding with caps
  • naming other `MTA` servers
  • telling players to join another server
  • posting server IPs
  • racist or homophobic insults
  • insulting players or their families
  • political or religious arguing
  • drama bait
  • harmful lying such as telling a player to use /quit

Breaking chat rules and then saying you were joking with friends does not make it allowed.

Saying `fail` after a punishable message does not make it allowed.

Reposting a quote or log that breaks the chat rules also counts as breaking that same rule.

Where to view Main Chat

`Main Chat` is one of the channels in the `J` chat interface.

To open the chat interface:

  • press J

From there, you can select:

  • `Main`

The selected channel includes options such as:

  • `Show in Chatbox`
  • `Beep on Message`
  • `Line Select`

Main Chat visibility setting

`Main Chat` visibility in the chatbox can be changed in:

  • /settings

In `Chat Box Text`, the listed setting is:

  • `Enable Main Chat`

This setting controls whether `Main Chat` is shown in the chatbox.

Related notes

If you press T and type normally without /main:

  • your message goes to `Country Chat`
  • it does not go to `Main Chat`

Notes

  • `Main Chat` is the public English chat channel.
  • `LS`, `SF`, `OS`, and `BC` share one `Main Chat`.
  • `LV` has its own separate `Main Chat`.
  • `Main Chat` can be viewed through the `J` chat interface and controlled with the `Enable Main Chat` setting.
