Vehicle Mods

Vehicle Mods are client side visual changes for vehicles in CIT. They change how a vehicle looks on your screen only.

Where vehicle mods are changed

Use /mods > Vehicles for client-side visual downloads. A Mod Shop changes vehicle customization and performance. You can also use /modshop for free vehicle modification in the Law Farm dimension and apartments.

Mod Shop menu categories

The Mod Shop menu includes Camera and POV, Color, License Plate, Paintjob, Chassis Upgrades, Vehicle Variants, Vehicle Performance, Toggle Window Tint, and Exit the shop. Two more entries only appear in some cases: Repair Vehicle appears when the vehicle is damaged, and Convert to Electric Power appears on vehicles that support electric power. No planes support electric power.

Prices are the same for every vehicle: Color $1,500, each chassis part $20,000, removing a chassis part $5,000, Paintjob $5,000, drive type including reset to default $10,000, License Plate $7,500, and Vehicle Variants $5,000.

Electric conversion at a Mod Shop costs 10 times the buy price, between $2,500,000 and $10,000,000. It removes fuel dependency, cannot be undone, and is not refunded when the vehicle is sold.

Current mod behavior

Feature	Current behavior
Drive type	Changed in a Mod Shop, not with /dtype. Drive type saves after it is changed.
Boosts	Vehicle boosts can include Bullet Resistance.
Removing boosts	Removing a boost removes one level and gives back Engine Parts.
Engine Parts	Mod Shops show how many Engine Parts are needed for the next boost level.
Saved after ejection	Changes are saved if the player is ejected after being in the mod shop for 5 minutes.

Client side mod behavior

Vehicle Mods are:

• client side only
• visual only
• only visible to you

They do not change how the vehicle looks for other players.

How to open Vehicle Mods

/mods and /vehiclemods open the same Modifications window with Vehicles, Weapons, Weapon Sounds, Crosshairs, and Weapon Skins tabs.

You can open Vehicle Mods by using:

• /vehmods

How vehicle mods work

To use a Vehicle Mod:

• open the Vehicle Mods menu
• pick a vehicle
• download the mod
• enable it

After that, the vehicle uses the new look on your screen only.

Removing a vehicle mod

To remove one Vehicle Mod:

• open /mods and go to the Vehicles tab
• select the mod and use Delete mod

To turn off all Vehicle Mods, open /mods > Vehicles and use Disable All. The Vehicles tab has no Delete all mods button. Only the Weapons tab has one.

Vehicle variants

Vehicle variants do not work while a Vehicle Mod is installed.

If you want to use a vehicle variant:

• remove the Vehicle Mod first

Hydraulics

Hydraulics costs $20,000 at Mod Shop > Chassis Upgrades > Hydraulics. It supports cars, but not bikes or planes. Hydraulics uses the vehicle Horn bind, which is Caps Lock by default, and replaces the normal horn on that vehicle.

Use /mods for the central vehicle and weapon modifications interface. The older vehicle mod commands still work.

Engine sound limit

Players cannot assign a different engine sound to one individual vehicle.

Bike upgrades

Bullet Resistance is disabled on every bike. NRG-500 can still use its other supported upgrades. A fully tuned NRG-500 can reach a max speed of 270 KPH.

Modifications interface

Open /mods for the central Modifications interface. Vehicles and Weapons have searchable lists with Name, ID, Replaces, Size, Downloaded, and Enabled columns. Use Search Mods, select a mod, then download, enable, disable, or delete it. Each mod can be enabled independently.

The panel shows used storage, and the weapon tab has Delete all mods. /carmods, /vehmods, /gunmods, and /wepmods remain usable.

Four boost costs

Speed levels cost 5, 8, 12, 15, 18, 21, 1,100, 1,200, 1,300 and 1,400 Engine Parts in order. The first six reach 124% speed for 79 parts; the last four cost 5,000. Acceleration has six levels of 3% each, costing 5, 8, 12, 15, 18 and 21 parts.

The Vehicle Performance Tuning list has 11 boosts in this order: Speed, Acceleration, Braking, Suspension, Lower Suspension, Bullet Resistance, Crash Resistance, Rear Traction Bias, Front Traction Bias, Front Brake Bias, and Rear Brake Bias. Use Increase Boost and Decrease Boost for the selected entry.

Removing one boost level returns 90% of that level's Engine Parts cost, rounded down. Selling the vehicle returns 90% of all installed Engine Parts, rounded down once. Speed has 10 levels at 4% per level; for example, 150 km/h stock becomes about 210 km/h.

Bullet Resistance levels

Open Vehicle Performance, then select Bullet Resistance in Vehicle Performance Tuning. Use Increase Boost or Decrease Boost. Bullet Resistance and Crash Resistance are separate upgrades. The following are the Engine Parts costs for each next level.

Lower Suspension and eligible vehicles

Lower Suspension changes ride height only, not handling. The Articulated Coach can be tuned.

Local vehicle appearance

Vehicle mods installed locally in your GTA files are visible only to you, like the mods enabled through /vehmods.

Backfire and colors

Vehicle Exhaust Backfire adds backfire effects and sounds on supported vehicles. Enable it with Yes under /settings > General > GENERAL VEHICLE SETTINGS; its default is No. It also requires Disable Muzzle Flash and Blood to be set to No. Trigger it by holding accelerate and brake together, or by holding accelerate for 5 seconds and releasing. Electric vehicles do not use backfire.

A Criminal or Gangster who backfires within 30 units of a Police Officer can get the crime Misdemeanour Causing a Disturbance. This has a 5 minute cooldown.

Open /settings > General > GENERAL VEHICLE SETTINGS and select Dynamic Vehicle Colors:

• Team Colors: matches your team.
• Group Colors: matches your group chat color, for L6+ groups.
• Skin Colors: matches your character's skin.
• Tag Colors: matches your tag color.
• No: disables Dynamic Vehicle Colors and is the default.

• In Vehicles and Weapons, each row shows Name, ID, what it Replaces, file Size, whether it is Downloaded, and whether it is Enabled.
• Use Search Mods to filter the list. Select a mod to download, enable, disable, or delete it.
• Vehicle and gun mods can be turned on or off individually.
• Disable All affects only the active tab: vehicle mods in Vehicles, or weapon mods in Weapons.
• The panel shows used storage space, and the weapon tab has Delete all mods.
• Weapon Sounds provides weapon selection, sound Presets, a Search box, a custom file option, and My weapon sounds showing your current selections.
• Crosshairs has Weapon Crosshairs and Sniper Crosshairs tabs, crosshair images, and a weapon list. It also has controls to enable, disable, and reset custom crosshairs.
• Weapon Skins lists ID and Weapon Skin. Select an entry and use Preview to see its kill message preview, then Select to apply it.

Electric engine sounds and clean appearance

Open /settings and go to Audio > SOUND PERFORMANCE. Set Disable Engine Noise For Electric Vehicles to Yes to disable electric vehicle engine sounds. Set it to No to allow them; the default is No. If the engine sounds wrong after changing it to No, exit and re enter the vehicle.

Find Wash Cars in /settings under Graphics > MODELS & TEXTURES. Set it to Yes to use a shader that removes the dirt appearance on vehicles, or No to disable the effect. The default is No.

Enable Vehicle Sunglare toggles sun reflections on vehicles and defaults to No.

Chassis choices

Chassis Upgrades has six categories, in this order. Each one starts with a Default entry.

• Drive Train: AWD, RWD, and FWD.
• Spoiler.
• Sideskirt: R Sideskirt and L Sideskirt.
• Hydraulics: Hydraulics.
• Wheels: Off Road, Shadow, Dragon, Iron Poor, Gold Wires, Classic Wires, Twist Colored, Underground, Oz, Chrome, Muscle Classic, Dollar, Trance, Atomic, Police Series, Virtual, and Access.
• Exhaust, the last category, below Wheels: Upsweptc Exhaust and Twin Cylinder Exhaust.

Drivetrain choices

A vehicle can use an AWD, FWD, or RWD drivetrain:

• AWD sends power to the front and rear wheels. It improves acceleration and control, and it makes drifting harder because the front wheels pull the vehicle forward.
• RWD sends power to the rear wheels. It is better for drifting, and it can be harder to control during acceleration or in difficult road conditions.
• FWD sends power to the front wheels. It is easy to control, it does not drift like RWD, and its turning can feel less responsive on some vehicles.

Choose the type that fits how you want to drive.

Enter a Mod Shop and choose the drive type you want. The selected drive type is saved after you change it, and you can return to the Mod Shop and change it later.
