Fuel System

Fuel System is the vehicle fuel system in CIT.

It controls how vehicles are refuelled and how players restore fuel when driving normally or after a vehicle runs out of fuel.

How to refuel a vehicle

There are 2 main ways to refuel a vehicle in CIT:

at a Gas Station
with a Jerry Can

Gas Stations

Gas Stations are the normal fuel refill locations in CIT.

They are used for:

refuelling vehicles
restoring fuel without using a Jerry Can

How to refuel at a gas station

To refuel your vehicle at a gas station:

drive into the fuel marker at the station
hold Space Bar while the fuel increases

When done correctly:

your vehicle refuels there

Jerry Can

A Jerry Can is the backup fuel item used when a vehicle runs out of fuel.

When it is used

A Jerry Can is mainly used when:

your vehicle is out of fuel

click the vehicle

Basic Fuel Skills is a course in /courses.

It costs:

It gives:

20% extra fuel when refuelling vehicles

This bonus applies when you refuel.

Lifetime Motor Club Membership

Lifetime Motor Club Membership gives:

free unlimited refuelling at gas stations

It applies to:

all your owned vehicles
any job marker spawned vehicles

It also gives:

free unlimited Pay 'n' Spray repairs
free roadside repairs

Fuel details

The normal way to refuel is by driving into the gas station fuel marker.
If a vehicle runs out of fuel, you can use a Jerry Can.
Basic Fuel Skills gives 20% extra fuel when refuelling.
Lifetime Motor Club Membership gives free unlimited gas station refuelling.

Related notes

Fuel is consumed only in the main dimension. Aircraft can use any gas station where they can land; an empty plane loses acceleration but does not fall from the sky.

Fuel does not run down while a vehicle is stationary or moving under 5 KPH.

A full fuel tank

A Jerry Can is not consumed when the tank is already full. Use X > Refuel Vehicle; the message reports the amount actually added.

Pump target and price

Each 1% of fuel costs the current vehicle shop price divided by 30,000, capped at $200 per percent, with a $5 minimum charge. A 0% to 100% fill costs about 0.33% of the shop price, up to $20,000. For a Hydra, 120% costs $24,000 instead of $20,000 for 100%, unless membership makes it free.

At a fuel pump, the prompt shows the target fuel percentage and the price before you refill, for example Press Space Bar to refill to 120%: $0. The display accounts for upgrades and free refuelling membership. If the tank is already full, the pump reports it instead of adding fuel.

Fuel target and course bonus

The pump displays the target fuel percentage and price before refuelling. Basic Fuel Skills in /courses raises the target to 120%. The extra 20% is charged, not free: a full refill costs 120 times the per-percent price instead of 100 times it. Lifetime Motor Club Membership makes refuelling free. A full tank shows The fuel tank is already full.
