Custom Maps

Custom Maps in CIT are player-made maps or mapping requests used for things like group bases, squad interiors, updates to existing mapped areas, and Criminal Event map suggestions.

Overview

Custom Maps are handled through the mapping and Land Development system.

This includes things like:

Map Editors handle map improvements and map bug fixes when needed.

Where To Request a Custom Map

Custom map and land development requests are made on the forum Land Development board.

Board link:

Before posting a request, read the board rules first.

What You Can Request

The mapping system can be used for:

  • A new group base
  • A squad interior
  • Updates to an existing base
  • Criminal Event map suggestions
  • Missing mapped features such as interiors, markers, blips, or bug fixes

If something is missing from an existing base or interior, use the Missing Features Request page on the Land Development board.

Requirements

For group map requests:

  • Your group must have had a sub-board for at least `1` month
  • The sub-board must show active posts

For squad interior requests:

  • The squad must be at least `4` months old
  • The squad must have `50+` members
  • The squad must have at least `30` active members in the past `7` days
  • The squad must have an active forum board

If a squad recently lost its interior, it must wait `4` months before requesting a new one.

Files To Upload

For a mapping request, upload:

  • The full `.map` file
  • `meta.xml`
  • Any `mapEditorScriptingExtension` files

Protected or passworded map files are not allowed.

Mapping Rules

General mapping rules include:

  • No resized objects
  • No world object removal if the group is under `L6`
  • Poor or floating maps are rejected
  • If denied, you can try again after `15` days`
  • Copying another group's map can get the request denied and can lead to a blacklist
  • You cannot remove houses that have enterable house markers

Restricted Areas

Mapping is restricted near or inside:

Map Limits

The maximum group base size is:

  • `100 x 100`

Height limit:

  • `20z`

Use:

  • `/length`

to help measure it.

Base object limits are:

  • Normal base requests allow `50` objects
  • Normal bases in San Fierro and rural areas are limited to `50`
  • `CITy` bases can use up to `150`

Community group limits:

  • `L2` to `L5` groups can have `1` interior marker and `1` gate

Official group limits:

  • `L6` to `L10` groups can have up to `3` interior markers and `2` gates

Mapped interiors can use up to:

  • `110` objects

Helpful Tools

Useful tools and resources for mapping include:

Missing Features and Changes

If your group already has a mapped base or interior, you can request:

  • Spawners
  • Textures
  • Object changes
  • Missing markers
  • Missing blips
  • Missing features
  • Bug fixes

If your group has a base or interior and needs a blip or map name change, use the Missing Features Request format.

Map Editors

Map Editors, also called `ME`, are the staff duty that improves the map and fixes map bugs when needed.

This duty is only assigned when needed.

Related Race Map Notes

The race panel includes filters such as:

  • `Show only maps I can edit`
  • `Show only beta maps`

This means the race system has editable and beta map support in the race panel.
