Train Driver

Train Driver is a civilian transport job where you run train deliveries and passenger routes.

How the job works

Train Driver is a Civilian job based on trains.

You can drive passenger trains or freight trains, depending on the train type you use. Passenger trips pay based on distance and passenger count, while Freight trains carry resources to delivery points.

How to start

To start Train Driver:

  1. Go to any train station, or use /warpstation.
  1. Take the Train Driver job.
  1. Use the blue Train Spawner marker.
  1. Spawn a train and start a run.

At Level 10, you unlock:

  • /go train driver

Stations

You can use /warpstation with these station codes:

  • US for Unity Station
  • RC for Red County
  • LS for Linden Station
  • SRY for Sobell Rail Yards
  • YBS for Yellow Bell Station
  • BC for Bone County
  • CS for Cranberry Station
  • DO for Doherty Station
  • FC for Flint County
  • MA for Market Underground Station

Train Types

Train Driver can use:

  • Tram
  • Streak
  • Freight

Tram

Tram is only in San Fierro.

It is used for short passenger transport.

Streak

Streak is used for long distance passengers.

Freight

Freight carries resources.

Freight resources include:

  • Oil
  • Gold
  • Chemicals
  • Electronics
  • Nitrous
  • Explosives
  • Engine Parts

How Passenger Routes Work

To transport passengers:

  1. Enter a Tram or Streak.
  1. Pick up passengers at the marker.
  1. Drive to the next destination marker.
  1. Drop them off.

Passenger pay depends on:

  • Distance
  • Passenger count

How Freight Routes Work

To transport cargo:

  1. Enter a Freight train.
  1. Press N.
  1. Choose a resource.
  1. Follow the markers to the delivery point.

Speed and Fuel

While driving trains, watch:

Important speed notes:

  • Stop at about 14 MPH for loading and unloading
  • Stop at about 8 MPH for fuel
  • Stay at 30 MPH or less in red zones
  • With the speed limit perk, red zones allow 37 MPH
  • The train starts shaking around 95 MPH
  • The train derails around 100 MPH or over 160 km/h
