NVIDIA Optimus warning or hybrid-GPU startup trouble

Use this when MTA offers an Optimus startup choice on a compatible laptop.

Steps

Try one step, then check whether the problem is still there. Follow any "only if" line before changing a setting.

1. Try the choices MTA actually offers

   Only if the Optimus startup dialog appears.

   Only if the MTA startup dialog offers Optimus choices, note your original choice and test each offered option one at a time. Do not apply this to a PC without that warning.

2. Update the relevant laptop graphics driver

   If neither offered option works, use your laptop or NVIDIA support page for your actual hardware and install its appropriate driver.

3. Update MTA and retry

   Install the current official MTA release and repeat the startup test. If it still fails, tell MTA support which offered choices you tested and the laptop model.
