Notifications

Notifications in CIT are alert messages and notice settings for things such as offline SMS, friend activity, group activity, event messages, police dispatch, and other server alerts.

Notify Me panel

/notify opens CIT - Notify Me!. It has Search, Account name, an Account list, and Add, Remove selected and Close buttons. When you add an account, the game says <account> has been added to the notify list! It'll notify you when they login and quit! The list is saved in your CIT settings.

Action	Use	Notes
Open notifications	/notify	Opens the Notify Me panel.
Add an account	Enter an account name and press Add, or use /notify <accountName>.	The panel notifies you when that account logs in or quits.
Find entries	Use the search bar.	Use it when your list is long.
Remove an entry	Remove selected	Select the account first.
Open from X	X menu Notifications	The X menu also has Notifications.

Notification details

Notifications in CIT include:

• offline SMS notices
• SMS alerts
• friend login and logout notices
• group login notices
• squad login notices
• alliance login notices
• invite notices
• top group change notices
• event alert messages
• police dispatch messages
• hourly notifications
• partner login notices after marriage

Some notifications appear automatically, while others can be shown or hidden in /settings.

For chat-word alerts, /highlights opens Highlight when a specific message is sent to chat. Its list shows Highlight, Language and Sound; type a word and use Add or Remove, or select a highlight to configure it. Next tip shows tips, and Match full word prevents partial-word matches.

Sound choices are iPhone 1, iPhone 2, iPhone 3, Samsung 1, Samsung 2, Skype, MSN 1 and MSN 2. Existing highlights default to iPhone 3; Set highlight volume: starts at 0.5. Text-to-speech languages are English, Arabic, Spanish, Turkish, Russian, Brazilian, French, Hungarian, German and Dutch. Desktop notifications can appear only once every 30 seconds.

The dynamic highlights are :nick: for your name, :account: for your account name, :group: for your group name, :squad: for your squad name, :team: for your current team name and :occupation: for your current job. Add (note) to be alerted when an admin note is taken.

Offline SMS notifications

Offline SMS messages appear in /notifications, also opened with /notif. Unlike /notify, this window lists notifications received while idle. Its columns are Date and Notification, with Search... and Close Window. An unread-notification message tells you how many are waiting.

They are shown when:

• you log in
• a player sent you an SMS while you were offline

SMS and friend notifications

To manage SMS alerts and friend notifications:

• open /settings
• go to Interface > SMS to control who can send you SMS, with SMS Output and the group, squad, and alliance permissions
• go to Audio > SOUNDS / MUSIC / AUDIO and adjust SMS Sound Volume to control SMS notification volume
• go to General > FRIENDS and use CITbook friend login/logout notification to control friend login and logout notices

• friend logout notifications

Group, squad, and alliance notifications

CIT also has notification settings for group related activity.

Under /settings > General > GROUP / ALLIANCE, use the group and alliance settings. The squad setting is under General > SQUAD.

Marriage login notifications

After marriage, you get a login notification when:

• your partner logs into the server

This is described as being:

• similar to friend or group login notices

Related chat visibility

Some notifications and message types can also depend on chat visibility.

If you are missing chat messages:

• press J
• open the correct chat tab
• make sure Show in Chatbox is enabled

Extra Notification details

• Offline SMS messages use /notifications.
• Many notification types can be enabled or disabled in /settings.
• Login notices exist for friends, groups, squads, alliances, and married partners.
• Event messages and police dispatch messages have their own separate settings.

Notify Me panel details

Use:

• /notify

to open the Notify Me panel.

The panel lets you:

• add an account name to the list
• get notified when that account logs in or quits
• use the search bar to find entries
• select an account and use Remove selected

The X menu also has:

/notify manages account login and quit alerts; /notifications or /notif displays received notices, including offline SMS.

Group application notifications

An accepted group application sends an invitation and a notification. Open F6 > Group > Group Invites to accept it.

Offline organization notices

You receive an offline notification when someone promotes, demotes, kicks, or warns you in a group, and when you are promoted or demoted in a squad. Open /notifications to view notices received while idle, including offline SMS.

Notification icon and friend notices

Use Enable Notifications under /settings > Interface > HUD - GENERAL to show or hide the notification icon near your radar. Choose Yes to show it or No to hide it. The default is Yes. Notifications can include a house purchase made while you were offline.

Open /settings and go to General > FRIENDS. Set CITbook friend login/logout notification to Yes to show a notification on the right side of the screen when a CITbook friend logs in or out. Set it to No to stop these notifications. The default is No.

Submitting an info advert

Players at Level 3 or above can submit a useful info advert through the info advert forum topic.
