MTA:SA fix

Chat box is too big, in the wrong place, or old lines fade away

The chat box is there, but it is too big or too small, it moved, or chat lines fade away too fast. These are MTA settings: load the MTA Blue (default) preset first, then change the Layout tab if you want.

Steps

  1. Load the normal chat box

Press ESC, open Settings, then the Interface tab. Under Presets choose MTA Blue (default) and press Load.

Careful: Load changes your current chat box settings to the preset.

  2. Change the size

Only if you want a different size than the preset.

On the Interface tab, open the Layout tab. Lines sets how many chat lines show, Scale sets the size and Width sets how wide the chat box is.

  3. Move it

Only if the chat box is in the wrong place.

On the same Layout tab, Horizontal moves it to the Left, Center or Right, and Vertical to the Top, Center or Bottom. X-Offset moves it sideways and Y-Offset moves it up and down.

  4. Keep old lines on screen

Only if chat lines disappear too quickly.

On the Layout tab, untick Fade out old lines. Or keep it ticked and raise the value of after. That is how many seconds a line stays before it starts to fade.

Worth knowing

MTA's chat presets are MTA Blue (default), MTA Black, Transparent, Race Oversized and iRace 2009.

Race Oversized and iRace 2009 make the chat box larger and show 10 lines, so loading one of them by mistake makes the chat big.

The Layout tab only changes the chat box: its lines, scale, width, fading and position.
