MTA will not start in a virtual machine or sandbox

MTA could not start inside a virtual machine or a sandbox program. MTA's answer for both is the same: remove the restrictions you set, or run MTA outside it.

Steps

Try one step, then check whether the problem is still there. Follow any "only if" line before changing a setting.

1. Sandbox: loosen it or leave it

   Only if you start MTA through a sandbox program.

   Remove any restrictions you set for the sandbox, or start MTA outside the sandbox.

2. Virtual machine: loosen it or leave it

   Only if you start MTA inside a virtual machine.

   Remove any restrictions you set for the virtual machine, or run MTA on the real computer.

3. A server may still refuse a virtual machine

   Even when MTA starts, a server can choose to block virtual machines. The anti-cheat guide lists that server option as SD #14, "Disallow virtual machines such as VMWare". Only that server can change it.

4. Cloud gaming services

   Only if you play through a cloud gaming or cloud PC service.

   The MTA team announced in December 2020 that most cloud gaming and cloud PC services can no longer be used with MTA. You cannot reach the machine that hosts the virtual one, and MTA needs that to validate your serial.
