LV turf payments to Gangsters use a $750,000 hourly earn limit ($840,000 with VIP), while other Gangster payments, including LS turfs, use $550,000 ($640,000 with VIP). A group member on a police job in LV can receive the group turf payments but keeps the police limit of $600,000 ($690,000 with VIP). The hourly earn counter is shared across teams, but the applicable limit depends on your team when paid. The payment that crosses the limit is cut to the amount remaining; subsequent cash payments give 10%, and drug and resource rewards stop until the next real-life hour. VIP adds a fixed $90,000 to the limit. Hourly Double Earnings or a Double Earnings token doubles the limit.
AFK status reduces drug, oil, and iron payments to about half as well as halving cash-turf shares; the fixed $2,000 cash component is not halved. Payments continue every 3 minutes and cash can still reach its cap. Activity lasts about 15 minutes (5 payments), after which the half rate resumes until you are active again. Buying items and using transport do not count as activity.
A group holding only resource turfs receives their drugs, oil, or iron but no turf cash, not even the fixed $2,000.

Turfing

Turfing is gangster PvP where groups fight for map areas and fill the capture bar to 100% to take control. In LV, the turf becomes yours once your control passes 50%; reaching 100% is not required.

Turfing fight in an open area
Turfing fight in an open area.

How turfing works

Turfing is gangster PvP where groups fight for map areas and fill the capture bar to 100%. In LV, the turf becomes yours once your control passes 50%; reaching 100% is not required.

To turf, you must:

  • be on the Gangster side
  • be in a group
  • stay inside the turf zone to build control

A maximum of 4 players from the same group contribute to the progress earned by standing in the turf. Getting killed lowers your group's control. Defending or re entering a turf stops another group from taking it.

Turfing does not give Wanted Points. The bottom right info bar shows the current cluster name and its turf count. Only gangsters see that cluster line.

LS and LV turf differences

City Turf behavior Important notes
LS Uses graffiti and influence control Grenades and RPGs cannot be used there. LS has 39 turf clusters, each made of several single turfs. LS turfs reset every 168 hours.
LV Taken by standing in the turf and defending it Grenades and RPGs can be used there. LV has 81 turfs: 62 mainland, 14 sea, and 5 oil.

Rewards and decay

Holding turfs gives group passive income, reputation or XP, and some turfs pay drugs, oil, iron, or other resources instead of cash. An LS cash turf gives RP equal to floor(pre-split cash / 200).

In LV, turf pay depends on how many turfs the group owns and how many members are actively turfing. If a group has no members online, its turf percent drops 3x faster in both LS and LV.

Useful turf commands

Command Use Notes
F11 Checks turf areas on the map LS may need zooming to show turf clusters.
/lasttakeover Shows latest LS and LV takeovers Useful for tracking recent turf activity.
/turfcolor Opens turf color picker Can also use /turfcolor R G B.
/groupchatcolor R G B Changes group chat color Requires group permission.
/stats Shows how much you earned from turfs Check Turf Earnings in LS TURFING STATS or LV TURFING STATS. /earnlimit shows how much you earned in the past hour.

Turfing notes

Turfing is mainly a Gangster activity. GIU officers can also capture LS turfs for Government, and police can turf in LV.

It is one of the main group activities on the gangster side, and it is split between Los Santos and Las Venturas.

Turfs belong to groups, not solo players.

Gangsters use turfing to fight for control, defend their areas, and earn passive rewards from the turfs they hold.

Requirements

To turf, you need:

  • Gangster side
  • A group

Criminals cannot capture turfs.

If you need to switch sides, use:

  • /gangster

How Turfing Works notes

To turf, enter the turf zone as a gangster in a group and stay inside it to build control.

Turfing uses a capture bar. When your group fills the bar to 100%, the turf is taken. In LV, the turf becomes yours once your control passes 50%; reaching 100% is not required.

Important turfing rules include:

  • Getting killed lowers your group's control
  • Defending or re entering the turf stops the other group from taking it

Los Santos and Las Venturas

Turfing works differently in LS and LV.

Los Santos Turfing

Los Santos has 39 turf clusters, each made of several single turfs.

Several of them are drug turfs.

LS turfing uses:

LS turfs reset every 7 days.

LS also has a turf cluster map on F11. If you zoom in on F11, it can show turf clusters instead of single turfs to reduce clutter.

Cluster text is only visible to gangsters.

Las Venturas Turfing

Las Venturas has 81 turfs: 62 mainland, 14 sea, and 5 oil.

These are split into:

In LV, the turf is taken by standing in it and defending it.

If a group has nobody online in LV, its turf percent drops 3 times faster.

The oil turfs in LV give oil instead of cash.

Turf Rewards

Holding turfs gives your group passive rewards.

These can include:

A defended turf gives your group reputation and also keeps its passive payout.

An LS cash turf gives RP equal to floor(pre-split cash / 200).

LS turf payouts

LS turf pay can also be directed to the group bank.

LS special payout turfs include:

  • East LS Docks Turf pays drugs instead of normal cash
  • East Los Santos Turf pays drugs instead of normal cash
  • Verona Beach Turf pays drugs instead of normal cash
  • Vinewood Turf pays drugs instead of normal cash
  • The 2 cargo ships at sea (LS Bay Cargoship Cluster and Gas Cargoship Cluster) pay oil instead of normal cash
  • West LS Docks Cluster pays oil instead of normal cash
  • Playa Del Seville Cluster pays oil instead of normal cash

LV turf payouts

LV turf pay depends on:

  • How many turfs your group owns
  • How many group members are actively turfing

LV special payout turfs include:

  • West Whitewood Estates pays a random drug instead of cash
  • East Whitewood Estates pays a random drug instead of cash
  • KACC pays a random drug instead of cash
  • LV Advanced Biking pays a random drug instead of cash
  • Come-A-Lot pays a random drug instead of cash
  • Greenglass College pays iron instead of cash

Commands and Tools

Useful turfing commands and tools include:

  • /lasttakeover to see who made the last LS and LV takeover and when it happened
  • /turfcolor R G B to change your turf color
  • /groupchatcolor R G B to change your group chat color
  • /highlight to mark groups or players so they are easier to track in fights

Gangster Highlight has these tabs:

  • Group
  • Players
  • Customize

Group highlights stay after reconnecting or logging in.

Turfing Tips

Some turfing tips are:

  • Turf as a group
  • Stay in the zone
  • Focus on the bar
  • Bring armor
  • Bring food
  • Bring drugs
  • Bring a good vehicle

Restrictions and Rules

  • Turfing is mainly for Gangsters; GIU officers can capture LS turfs for Government, and police can turf in LV.
  • Turfs belong to groups, not solo players
  • Criminals cannot capture or defend turfs
  • Gangsters can kill other gangsters outside AR, CE, riots, and Jefferson Motel
  • You cannot place barriers in LS turfs
  • Bases in Las Venturas must stay away from turfs
  • Bases must not give unfair turf access
  • Base mapping requests for underground areas near turfs in LV are instantly denied

Related commands

Command Use
/turfleft Shows how much time is left until LS turfs reset.

Current LS control progress

Standing in an LS turf adds 2 control progress every 30 seconds. Up to 4 players from the same group can contribute. If more than 6 players from the same group are inside, that group makes no control progress until a player leaves the area.

  • Spraying graffiti adds a random 1 to 5 progress.
  • Killing a player without a group adds 2 progress.
  • Killing a player who belongs to a group adds 3 progress.
  • Being killed removes 5 progress from your group.

Buy a spray can from a shop and use /graffiti to choose a spray.

Current turf totals

Los Santos currently has 39 turf clusters, each made of several single turfs. Las Venturas has 81: 62 mainland, 14 sea, and 5 oil turfs.

Current LS and LV reward behavior

LS cash turfs give criminal RP equal to floor(pre-split cash / 200). For LV resource holding payments, resource Double Earnings applies, Oil and Iron are capped at 1,000 units, and that resource path gives no criminal RP.

Offline turf percentage

In both LS and LV, a group with no members online loses its turf percentage 3x faster.

Current capture and payment rules

  • Turfing does not work from inside a vehicle. LS turfing stops above 85 meters above sea level.
  • Killing a groupmate or alliance member in an LS turf removes 5 control, without going below 0.
  • Spraying over an online player's graffiti adds 1 extra LS control.
  • Gangsters taking part in AR or CE do not affect turf control. An AR removes only the turf parts inside its area.
  • /afk cannot be used inside an LS turf. Gangsters in LS are removed after 20 minutes AFK.
  • /kill takes 10 seconds in LV and 15 seconds after recent LS turfing.
  • Alliances can capture LS and LV turfs. In LS, an alliance takeover also counts as a group takeover when one group in the alliance holds more than 80% of the turfs.
  • The takeover cooldown is 3 hours in both cities. In LS, it applies only to the gang that last took over all of LS.

LS turf pay is issued every 5 minutes. The group bank receives 50% from a member in the lowest group rank, 10% when the group has a level, and 0% when it has no level.

In LV, a group that owns no turfs captures turfs twice as fast. This does not apply to groups created in the last hour, and it is limited to 50 double capture speed instances per 20 minutes. A kill's control change is doubled when the killer is unfairly outnumbered. An inactive member in LV receives half of the normal share. Cash shares include another $2,000, are capped at $32,000 per 3 minute payment, and then use the group bank split.

LS areas and spray boosts

F11 can show 39 LS turf clusters. A cluster percentage describes control inside that area, not the whole LS map. The spray can graffiti boost works on LS turfs only, not LV.

Payment location and AFK rules

Holding turfs gives your group passive income, reputation or XP, and some turfs pay drugs, oil, iron, or other resources instead of normal cash.

  • You must stay in the city where your group has turfs to receive its turf payments.
  • LS Gangsters can receive turf payments while in a vehicle.
  • To receive LS turf payments, you must have entered a turf in the last 15 minutes.
  • In LV, being considered AFK reduces your turf payment to half.
  • Payment depends on turfs owned and active group members. LS turf pay can also go to the group bank.

You must be in LV to receive your group's LV turf payments. Each eligible member receives a share from every applicable cash turf. If you are considered AFK, you receive half of that turf's normal share. The shares are added together with $2,000, capped at $32,000 per 3 minute payment, and then processed through the group bank split.

LS takeover reward

A group that captures all of LS receives $2,000,000 in its group bank. LS Takeovers lists groups and capture timestamps in UTC, newest first. A second full takeover by the same group within 3 hours is not listed.
