MTA:SA fix

Error loading "CefWeb" module

MTA shows an error that it could not load its CefWeb module. What to try depends on the rest of the message, or on whether your antivirus removed an MTA file.

The messages

Error loading "CefWeb" module!

Not enough storage is available to process this command.

TO FIX, REMOVE THIS FILE:

Steps

  1. The message names a d3d9.dll file: remove it

Only if the message also says TO FIX, REMOVE THIS FILE: and shows the path of a d3d9.dll file.

MTA adds this line when it finds a d3d9.dll file. Remove the file at the exact path shown in the message, then start MTA again. The fix for ASI plugins and game-folder DLLs shows how to keep a backup of a mod file.

  2. Not enough storage: turn off Fast CJ clothes loading

Only if the message ends with: Not enough storage is available to process this command.

Open MTA's Settings, then the Advanced tab. Set Fast CJ clothes loading to Off.

  3. Not enough storage: set Streaming memory to Min

Only if the message ends with: Not enough storage is available to process this command.

In the same Advanced tab, set Streaming memory to Min. Then try again.

Careful: MTA's own help text for this setting says: Maximum is usually best. Set it back if this does not help.

  4. Not enough storage: remove GTA graphics mods

Only if the message ends with: Not enough storage is available to process this command, and your GTA has graphics mods.

Remove all GTA San Andreas graphics mods. MTA's team says a fresh GTA install is best.

  5. Antivirus removed an MTA file: install MTA again

Only if your antivirus deleted or blocked an MTA file.

Install MTA again with the full installer from the official MTA site, so the deleted file comes back.

  6. Report the false detection

Only if your antivirus deleted or blocked an MTA file.

Report the detection to the maker of your antivirus as a false positive, so they can fix it.

Careful: MTA's team did not tell the player to just whitelist the file. It said another virus on the PC can also change an MTA file, so it wanted to check the file first.

Worth knowing

Current MTA writes this error with single quotes: Error loading 'CefWeb' module! On the next line it shows the error text MTA got when it loaded the file, such as Not enough storage is available to process this command.

For the Not enough storage message, an MTA Team member said in 2017 that it could be a memory problem and linked the 32-bit Windows steps used here. The player then said it worked, but the topic does not say which step fixed it.

Those steps come from an MTA Team post of 2015, which says they may help a little on 32-bit Windows.

On the antivirus case, an MTA Team member said in 2017 that MTA does not pack malicious files and that the detection was generic, most likely a false positive. He would advise whitelisting the file only after it was checked.

MTA needs a processor with SSE2. An MTA Team member gave this answer in a 2017 topic about a CefWeb module problem.

All staff answers we found for this message are from 2017. A 2024 topic with the same message had no staff reply.
