MTA:SA fix

MTA crash: Out of memory, 0xE06D7363 or 0xE0000008 (libcef.dll)

MTA crashed with an Out of memory message, or with a crash code that MTA staff link to memory. MTA says servers that use too much memory cause it: update MTA first, then tell the server's staff.

The messages

** Out of memory - this crash was caused by insufficient free or fragmented memory. **

The crash you experienced is due to memory abuse by servers.

MTA: San Andreas - Out of Memory Crash

Steps

  1. Update MTA

Install the newest MTA from the official MTA site. In January 2026 an MTA team member wrote on MTA's GitHub that a crash of this kind (offset 0x003C91CC) was resolved in MTA on 31 December 2025.

  2. Use a GTA without mods

Only if your GTA folder has mods in it.

For these memory crashes, an MTA moderator's first step was a fresh GTA install without mods. Use a clean GTA San Andreas for MTA, then test again.

  3. 32-bit Windows: turn off Fast CJ clothes loading

Only if your Windows is 32-bit.

Press ESC, open Settings, then the Advanced tab. Set Fast CJ clothes loading to Off. MTA's help text says this option uses 65 MB more RAM.

  4. 32-bit Windows: set Streaming memory to Min

Only if your Windows is 32-bit.

In the same Advanced tab, set Streaming memory to Min.

Careful: MTA's own help text for this setting says: Maximum is usually best. Set it back if this does not help.

  5. Tell the server owner or MTA support

MTA's Out of Memory Information box says this crash is due to memory abuse by servers. It asks you to contact the server owner, or MTA support in MTA's official Discord (discord.gg/mtasa).

  6. On CIT: post in General Support

Only if the crash happened on CIT.

Post on CIT's General Support / Questions board: cit.gg/index.php?board=15.0. It is the place for problems that need a longer explanation, screenshots or a written follow-up.

Worth knowing

MTA's box says that even a PC with plenty of RAM can hit this: the game is 32-bit (x86) and can use at most about 3.6 GB of address space.

The box opens after the crash window closes. Its usual title is MTA: San Andreas - Out of Memory Information. MTA: San Andreas - Out of Memory Crash is only a fallback title.

An MTA forum moderator (December 2024) said this kind of crash is most likely caused by a badly optimized server, and that you cannot fix it yourself. Another moderator (August 2023) said reinstalling the game will not solve it.

In August 2023 an MTA moderator, quoting MTA's wiki, said that in general code 0xE06D7363 on an MTA module (not gta_sa.exe) is also a memory problem caused by servers and mods.

In a 2022 topic, a moderator said the player's crashes looked memory related, and a forum helper said a libcef.dll crash with code 0xE0000008 is also memory related.

A Russian Section Moderator (2021) said the server may be abusing memory with badly optimized scripts or mods, or memory leaks. An Arabic Section Moderator said that with 2 GB of RAM you can only join some very optimized servers without memory crashes.

About offset 0x003C91CC, an MTA team member wrote on GitHub (January 2026) that it happens when a server uses more video memory (VRAM) than the player's graphics card can handle. He said his workaround in MTA had mostly fixed ('pretty much alleviated') the crash.

The 32-bit steps come from an MTA Team post of 2015. It says they may help a little, and that the best solution is 64-bit Windows.
