Community Ranks

From CIT Wiki

Community Ranks

Community Ranks are forum access ranks in CIT that give extra forum and community privileges. They are requested on the Community Ranks board and are earned through forum activity, recent helpful posting, or officially recognized community duties.

Community Ranks are not automatic. You must request the rank yourself once you meet the requirements.

Each rank is shown next to a member's name as a number of coloured bricks.

  • NCM, JCM, RCM, SCM and OCM use the green brick Green brick
  • Honorable uses the mint brick Mint brick

Ways to qualify

There are three methods of qualifying:

  • Method 1 — by total posts on your forum account (applies to NCM and above)
  • Method 2 — by recent forum activity in the major boards (applies to JCM and above)
  • Method 3 — by serving the community through duties (applies to JCM and above)

You only need to meet one method, but you must meet all conditions inside that method.

Your post counts can be checked on your forum profile under top boards by posts.

OCM and Honorable

OCM means Outstanding Community Member. Honorable is the rarest Community Rank.

Both ranks are obtained the same way:

  • They cannot be applied for on the Community Ranks board.
  • They are given for exceptional contributions, as Staff or otherwise.
  • You do not have to be Staff to be eligible.
  • They are awarded for enormous contributions that few other members have made.

Rules that apply to all requests

  • No recent punishments (see each rank for the exact period).
  • No behavioral issues.
  • Your last Community Rank request must be at least 14 days ago.
  • Post constructive, useful replies. A few useful posts are valued over many useless ones.
  • Your English must be understandable on a minimally coherent level.
  • Power posting (spamming the forum to look active) before applying can get you denied for appearing ingenuine.
  • Copied or lightly reworded applications are denied for lack of effort, and may result in a warning for useless post.
  • You cannot discuss or argue a denied application. Improve the points the FMMs mentioned instead.
  • FMM or L4+ Staff must state why a request was rejected.
  • If you voluntarily delete your forum account, FMMs will not recover your lost forum rank. (since 16-10-2019)
  • You cannot apply while fully muted in game — doing so results in instant denial.
  • After a Community Rank removal you cannot skip ranks when applying again.
  • After a Community Rank removal, contributions from before the removal do not count. (since 30-10-2022)
  • More than 5% warning level results in immediate denial. (since 12-04-2024)
  • When using Method 3, mention all duties you served in — unmentioned duties are not considered — and you must have no punishments in the past year. (since 20-08-2024)

Major boards

Posts only count in the following boards, and only when the post is actually helpful:

  • Discussion — only if you are helping
  • News and Updates — only if you are helping
  • Backlogged — only if you are helping
  • Quality Assurance — only if you are helping or reporting bugs
  • Support Boards — only if you are helping
  • Tutorials and Guides — only if you are helping
  • Contribute — only if you are helping

Posts only count if they are meaningful and contribute to the server in some way. Silly posts and posts that do not contribute are not counted.

Recognized community duties

Ranks you cannot apply for here

The following cannot be requested on the Community Ranks board:

These are given by the respective teams or boards. Once accepted, you may request the forum change in the dedicated topic.

Primary forum group

If your Community Rank is added as a secondary forum group and you want it displayed as your primary forum group, request the change in the forum topic for changing primary forum groups. Staff and PAM priority rules still apply.

Losing your Community Rank

Community Ranks can be taken away.

Demotion by one rank

  • stupid behavior or not using intelligence
  • being warned for lying, insulting, trolling, or any other non-trivial offense

Instant removal of the rank (at L4+ discretion)

  • ungrateful attitude
  • non-specific serious offense
  • any decision deemed appropriate by L4+ for serious cases

Blacklisted from applying

  • serious lying in an application
  • muted many times
  • warned many times
  • behavior or temper problems
  • prone to drama, causing trouble, being a bad example
  • previously had a Community Rank removed

Who decides requests

Community Rank requests are decided and discussed privately by Forum Membership Moderators (FMM).

L4+ Staff members may take part in these discussions and are also authorized to reward Community Ranks.

The current FMM list changes over time — check the Community Ranks board for the up to date roster.
