Beginner Guide

CIT is a very large server, so the best way to start is to learn the basics first and ignore the advanced systems until you are comfortable.

This guide covers:

  • what new players start with
  • the 4 sides
  • the most important menus and keys
  • vehicles, drugs, money, and trading
  • the difference between `CE` and `AR`
  • a simple path for your first hours

What You Start With

New players start with:

  • $150,000 cash
  • $5,000 in the bank
  • 15 hits of each drug
  • free $5,000 vehicles at white markers
  • on-screen help messages
  • the 1H to 15H label above your head

New `Civilian` players also get:

  • an extra $50,000

New-player bonuses:

  • you can use /rt while under 15 hours of playtime
  • you keep a `VIP` bonus until you reach 10 hours of playtime

First Things To Learn

The most important beginner tools are:

Key or command What it does
F11 Opens the full map
/gps Opens GPS search and bookmarks
B Opens `CITPhone`
F2 Opens `Vehicle Manager`
F3 Opens jobs, stats, and opportunities
F4 Opens the Drugs GUI
F7 Opens Trading
F9 Opens Crafting
J > Support or /sup Lets you ask for help

How To Move Around The Server

Use:

  • F11 to open the map
  • /gps to search for places and mark them
  • B for `CITPhone`
  • `CITPhone > Event Times` to check upcoming events

Map basics:

  • click destinations to place a GPS waypoint
  • double click some destinations to warp if that place supports warping
  • use /gps ammu, /gps pns, /gps gas, or /gps mods for quick shortcuts

The 4 Sides

The four sides are:

  • `Civilian`
  • `Criminal`
  • `Police`
  • `Gangster`

Civilian

`Civilian` is the easiest and safest side for new players.

It is the non-combat side for:

  • jobs
  • deliveries
  • mining
  • transport
  • general money-making

Use:

  • F3
  • /jobs

to browse civilian jobs.

Police

`Police` is the law side.

Police players:

  • arrest wanted players
  • patrol
  • enforce the law
  • join `ARs` and `CEs` on the law side

To become Police:

  • use /lspd
  • or go to the `LSPD` or `SFPD` marker

Police use:

Criminal

`Criminal` is the robbery and wanted side.

Criminals:

  • do robberies
  • do criminal missions
  • join `ARs`
  • join `CEs`
  • can work solo

To become Criminal:

  • use /criminal

This side is strong for money, but riskier for beginners.

Gangster

`Gangster` is the group and turf side.

Gangsters focus on:

Gangsters make money mainly from:

  • turf payouts
  • group rewards
  • Briefcases
  • `LS` Hijack missions

To become Gangster:

  • use /gangster
  • or press X then `Go Gangster`

Best Beginner Path

The documented recommended progression is:

If you are brand new, `Civilian` is the safest place to learn the map, menus, and money systems.

Vehicles and F2

Use:

  • F2
  • or /vehicles

to open `Vehicle Manager`.

`F2` lets you:

  • recover vehicles
  • hide vehicles
  • sell vehicles
  • lock or unlock vehicles
  • open `View Data`
  • manage categories

For beginners, the most important part is:

  • use `Recover` to get your vehicle back when needed

Without `VIP`:

  • your vehicle goes to the recovery point or nearest allowed spawner

Free vehicle note:

  • new players can use free $5,000 vehicles at white vehicle markers

Drugs and F4

Use:

  • F4

to open the Drugs GUI.

The Drugs GUI lets you:

  • take drugs
  • turn drug effects off

New players start with:

  • 15 hits of each drug

You do not need to master drugs early. Just know that:

  • `F4` is where you manage them

Money, Bank, and F7 Market

Bank

The bank stores money safely with:

  • no limit

Cash-on-hand limit:

  • $90,000,000

Important beginner rule:

  • bank your money often
  • bank money stays safe

Useful bank commands:

  • /atm
  • /bankbalance
  • /batm

F7 Trading

Use:

  • F7

to open the player market.

`F7` has:

  • `Buy`
  • `Sell`
  • `Offers`
  • `Trading Logs`

You can buy and sell things like:

  • resources
  • ammo
  • guns
  • drugs
  • house slots
  • `VIP` items

Beginner tip:

  • if you collect useful materials from jobs, you can often sell them in `F7`
  • `F7` is one of the strongest money systems in the server

CE and AR Basics

These are two of the biggest public action systems in CIT.

CE

`CE` means:

Criminal Events are public events where:

  • criminals and police fight over an objective
  • unlimited players can join
  • events rotate through different locations

Use:

  • /ce

to check:

  • the current CE
  • how long until it starts
  • how many criminals and cops are inside

You can also use:

  • /ce update

to keep the info on your screen.

AR

`AR` means:

  • `Armed Robbery`

`ARs` are outdoor robberies at fixed spots.

To find an `AR`:

  • use /arl
  • use /gps
  • or use the red money bag on F11

To start an `AR` as a criminal:

  • go to the robbery spot
  • aim at the robbery ped

You can use:

  • /arl update

to pin live AR info on your screen.

Simple difference

The short version is:

  • `CE` is a public criminal event flow checked with /ce
  • `AR` is a fixed outdoor robbery checked with /arl

Common Beginner Mistakes

The documented common mistakes are:

  • going `Criminal` too early
  • buying expensive cars too soon
  • spending everything
  • ignoring the map and /gps
  • quitting after early mistakes instead of learning the systems first

Simple Advice

If you want the easiest start:

  1. go `Civilian`
  2. use F3 and take a simple job like `Trucker` or `Farmer`
  3. use F11 and /gps constantly
  4. keep your money safe in the bank
  5. use F2 to manage your vehicle
  6. use F7 later when you start collecting useful items
  7. learn `CE` and `AR` after you understand the map a bit better
