Chat Interface
Chat Interface is CIT's in-game channel manager. It is opened with J and lets players switch between chat channels, manage which chats appear in the chatbox, enable message beeps, and copy lines with the built-in line selection tool.
It is also opened with:
/tabchat
Overview
The J chat interface is the main place for viewing and managing many CIT chat channels in one panel.
It lets players:
- switch between chat channels
- choose whether a channel shows in the main chatbox
- enable message beeps for a channel
- use line selection to copy text
- quickly access support, trading, organization chats, language chats, and more
How to open it
To open the chat interface:
- press
J - or use
/tabchat
Main functions
The confirmed functions in the J chat interface are:
- Show in Chatbox
- Beep on Message
- Line Select
Unread message counts
The `J` chat interface shows unread message counts on channels.
Show in Chatbox
Show in Chatbox controls whether the selected channel is also shown in the normal chatbox.
If you are missing chat messages, a common fix is:
- open
J - open the correct channel
- make sure Show in Chatbox is enabled
Beep on Message
Beep on Message enables a sound notification for the selected channel.
Line Select
Line Select is the same system as:
/lineselect
When enabled:
- hold
LCTRL - select the lines you want to copy
- release
LCTRL - the selected lines are copied to your clipboard
To copy an entire grid list full of text:
- select any line
- hold
LCTRL - right click the line

Related chat systems
The J interface works alongside several normal chat commands and systems.
Examples include:
/sup [question]for support/main [message]for Main Chat/localchat [message]for Local Chat/gc [message]for Group Chat/sc [message]for Squad Chat/uc [message]for Unit Chat/ac [message]for Alliance Chat/fmsg [message]for Friend Message/sms [player] [message]for private messages/ignore [player]to ignore a player/lineselectto enable line selection
Missing chat messages
If you think a chat channel is not appearing properly:
- open
J - open the correct channel
- enable Show in Chatbox
This is the normal way to make sure the selected channel also appears in the main chatbox.
Notes
- The J interface is the same system opened by
/tabchat. - It is used for both reading channels and controlling how they behave in your chatbox.
- Not every chat system in CIT is typed directly through J, but J is the main interface for managing many of them.
