Chat Commands

Chat Commands in CIT are used for public chat, private messages, team communication, organization chats, room chats, support, adverts, and other social systems.

Some chat systems use direct commands, while others are mainly accessed through the J chat interface or CIT Messenger.

Overview

CIT has several types of chat:

  • public chat
  • country chat
  • main chat
  • team chat
  • local chat
  • friend chat
  • private messages
  • support chat
  • group, squad, alliance, and unit chats
  • special chats such as car chat, donator chat, radio chat, and super adverts
  • room chats through CIT Messenger

Opening chat

Basic chat controls:

  • Press T to type in chat
  • Press Y for Team Chat
  • Press U for Local Chat
  • Use /tabchat or press J to open the full chat interface

Public and general chats

Country Chat

If you press T and type normally without using /main, your message goes to Country Chat.

This is different from:

/cc

because /cc is Car Chat, not Country Chat.

Main Chat

To talk in Main Chat:

/main [message]

Notes:

  • LS, SF, OS, and BC share the same /main chat
  • LV has its own /main chat
  • Main Chat is English only

Team Chat

To use Team Chat:

  • press Y

Local Chat

To use Local Chat:

  • press U
  • or use /localchat [message]

Only nearby players can see Local Chat.

CITBook friend chats

Friend Message

FMSG means Friend Message.

To send one message to all your CITBook friends:

/fmsg [message]

Local Friends Chat

To send a message only to nearby CITBook friends:

/locf [message]

Local Friend Team Chat

To send a message only to nearby players who are both:

  • in your CITBook
  • on the same team as you

use:

/loct [message]

This works for:

Private messages

SMS

To send a private message to a player:

/sms [player name] [message]

If they are online, they see it immediately. If they are offline, they receive it when they log in.

Reply

To reply to the last private message:

/re [message]

Quick SMS through CITPhone

Players can also use the Quick SMS app in CITPhone for quick private messaging.

Support chats

Support Chat

To ask a support question:

/sup [question]

You can also use:

  • J > Support

Support in your own language

To ask for help in your own language:

/ssup

Organization chats

Group Chat

To chat with your group:

/gc [message]

Group Staff Chat

To chat in group staff chat:

/gsc [message]

Squad Chat

To chat in squad chat:

/sc [message]

Squad Staff Chat

To chat in squad staff chat:

/ssc [message]

Your squad rank must have permission to use it.

Alliance Chat

To talk to everyone in your alliance:

/ac [message]

Alliance Staff Chat

To talk in alliance staff chat:

/asc [message]

Squad Alliance Chat

Squadally Chat is used between your squad and allied squads.

To use squad alliance chat:

/sac [message]

To use squad alliance staff chat:

/sasc [message]

Unit Chat

To talk in unit chat:

/uc [message]

Only your current unit can see it.

Car, radio, and special chats

Car Chat

To talk in Car Chat:

/cc [message]

Only players:

  • inside your vehicle
  • or glued to that vehicle

can see it.

Radio Chat

To talk in radio chat:

/r [message]

This is used for your current radio or job channel.

Donator Chat

To use Donator Chat:

/d [message]

Only donators can see Donator Chat.

State Officials Chat

To use State Officials chat:

/so [message]

Guider Chat

To use Guider chat:

/gd [message]

Room chats

Room chats are managed through CIT Messenger.

To open CIT Messenger:

  • press F10
  • or use /messenger

To talk in a room chat:

/r<room command> [message]

Example:

If the room command is hello, use:

/rhello [message]

Room management is handled from the Rooms section of CIT Messenger.

Adverts and public announcements

Superadvert

To send a server-wide super advert:

/superadvert [message]

Notes:

  • it is sent to all online non-AFK players who can receive it
  • it requires at least 8 hours of playtime
  • it costs $500 per receiver
  • it allows up to 110 characters

Cooldowns:

  • normal: 3 hours
  • DL1: 2 hours
  • DL2: 1 hour
  • DL3: 3 minutes

Country Advert

To send an advert to players from your country:

/countryadvert [message]

Chat interface and chat tools

J chat interface

To open the main chat interface:

  • press J
  • or use /tabchat

The visible channels in the J chat interface include:

  • Support

J interface options

Inside the J chat interface, players can use:

  • Show in Chatbox
  • Beep on Message
  • Line Select

Line Select

To enable line selection for copying text:

/lineselect

When enabled:

  • hold LCTRL and select the lines you want to copy
  • releasing LCTRL copies the selected lines to your clipboard
  • to copy an entire grid list, select any line, hold LCTRL, and right click the line

Ignore tools

Ignore a player

To ignore a player:

/ignore [player name or ID]

Unignore a player

To remove someone from ignore:

/unignore [player name or ID]

Ignore list

To see your ignore list:

/ignorelist

Ignored messages are hidden from the main chatbox and only appear in the Ignored tab.

Discord-linked chat

Reply to Discord messages

To reply to Discord messages in game:

/discordre [message]

Chat-related display settings

Some chat types can be shown, hidden, or filtered in settings.

Confirmed chatbox-related settings include:

  • Enable Main Chat
  • Enable My Country Chat
  • Disable Team Chat in Chatbox
  • Super Adverts
  • Show Law Chat
  • Show Duty Chats in Chat Box
  • Show Police Dispatch Calls
  • Show Police Dispatch Response Messages

To manage chat appearance or visibility:

  • open /settings
  • go to the relevant chat section
